Winter Bird Surveys Photo Gallery 2019
Our staff have recently completed a number of wintering bird surveys at sites across Ireland. Here we have provided new photo gallery presenting selected photos from bird surveys we undertook during January to March 2019. Our bird surveys are undertaken to inform both the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Natura Impact Statement (NIS) reports being prepared for a range of proposed developments.
The photos include a Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) which we recorded on the River Shannon callows downstream of Athlone during February 2019. Cattle Egrets (Bubulcus ibis) which we recorded near Ennis during January 2019 are also featured. The photos also include a Ring-necked Duck (Aythya collaris) which we recorded at Westfields Wetlands, Limerick City, in March 2019 (featured photo). They are rare winter visitors to Ireland from North America.
