Renewable Energy Projects

Ecofact have been involved in the environmental impact assessment and appropriate assessment of a wide variety of renewable and sustainable energy projects. As this industry continues to grow in Ireland we have been responsible for undertaking Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and also Article 6 Appropriate Assessments for sites located within designated Natura 2000 conservation sites.

We are currently preparing assessments for a number of renewable energy developments, including:

  • Wind Energy
  • Small hydro-electric schemes

The largest offshore wind energy project we are currently working on is the Dublin Array. This project is an offshore wind farm development consisting of 145 turbines that is being developed on the Kish and Bray Banks in the Irish Sea.

We are also currenty involved in the environmental impact assessment and appropriate assessment of a significant  number of small hydropower projects.

Ecofact has undertaken Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) for other developments in the energy sector including sustainable energy projects i.e. bio-fuels and waste to energy; an Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) project at Bellacorrick, Co. Mayo; and a 450MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) project which is currently under construction in Toomes, Co. Louth.
