Flood Protection

ECOFACT has extensive experience in the field of environmental management and impact assessment for flood alleviation and drainage schemes, both on large-scale, national schemes and also on local drainage schemes.

Estuarine Ecology

Estuarine ecology and assessments of proposed developments in brackish waters, transitional waters and estuaries is one of our core areas of expertise. Brackish water habitats and periodically saline habitats of estuaries and transitional waters constitute a variety of niche ecosystems and include lagoon habitats, which are listed as a priority Annex I habitat on the EU Habitats Directive (1992)

Terrestrial Ecology

Ecological services in the terrestrial environment provided by Ecofact include habitat surveys and mapping, botanical surveys and fauna surveys to identify the principal vegetative and animal communities present at a site. Initial surveys seek to identify the baseline communities at a site. This can be followed by an evaluation of the ecological communities present, and an impact assessment of a proposed project. Monitoring during the construction and operation of a project is also often undertaken.
