Terrestrial mammal surveys

ECOFACT provides a range of terrestrial mammal surveys and assessment services for all mammal species in Ireland, including bat species, badger, otter, pine marten among others. ECOFACT are fully qualified to carry out a range of non-volant mammal and bat surveys, with all staff having undergone specialist training modules, including training from the UK Bat Conservation Trust (BCT); in conjunction with extensive, in-house project experience.

Many terrestrial mammal species, both in Ireland and Northern Ireland, are protected by both national and EU level legislation.

ECOFACT have all the necessary skills and experience to cover mammal survey and mitigation works for protected species including; bat surveys, badger surveys, otter surveys and any other protected mammals that may be an issue for a proposed development.

We can also apply for derogation licences, and have extensive experience in providing mitigation such as artificial bat roots, badger setts, and otter holts.  We have extensive experience in reaching agreements with NPWS and NIEA staff on such matters.
