Terrestrial mammal legislation and derogation licences

ECOFACT staff are experts in relation to surveys, protection legislation, derogation licences and impact assessment and mitigation for terrestrial mammals.  Terrestrial mammal protection legislation for both Ireland and Northern Ireland is outlined below.

Non-volant mammals

Non-volant mammal surveys: Non-volant terrestrial mammals are land based mammals that cannot fly, or all land based mammals excluding bats.
Our surveys follow methodology approved for use in Ireland, by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), and in Northern Ireland by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).

Terrestrial mammal surveys

ECOFACT provides a range of terrestrial mammal surveys and assessment services for all mammal species in Ireland, including bat species, badger, otter, pine marten among others. ECOFACT are fully qualified to carry out a range of non-volant mammal and bat surveys, with all staff having undergone specialist training modules, including training from the UK Bat Conservation Trust (BCT); in conjunction with extensive, in-house project experience.
